Environmental Design is the art of creating spaces and worlds from imagination. This class will focus on creating these worlds, from simple interior office sets to majestic castles in a fantasy landscape, you will learn the tools and theories in creating any environment of your choosing. Students will learn in depth methods and techniques used by notable production designers, concept illustrators, set designers and others involved in creating these environments for use in film, television, video games, and all other major forms of media.
Topics covered will be perspective, lighting, color theory, digital painting, composition, cinematography, and so much more! Primary software used will be Photoshop and occasionally Sketchup Pro.
Prerequisite: It is highly recommended that students have concept design experience and/or have already taken Concept Design 101 and/or they have a solid understanding of Photoshop before attempting this class.
(Note: classes include both lecture and instructed lab)
Weekly Class: A half hour of labtime before and after lecture.
