Avid Media Composer 1
This course is an introduction to Avid Media Composer, an industry-wide standard tool for non-linear editing. Students will cut scenes and create output for a variety of formats in film, television, the production of DVDs and online video. Working with the provided sample footage students will gain a firm understanding of editorial processes and workflows.
Though introductory, this editing course will provide an in-depth look at all of the key features of the Avid Media Composer's modal interface. The course will be taught using version 5.5, a significant upgrade of Avid Media Composer which has the recent addition of a number of features resembling those of Apple's Final Cut Pro.
Topics include: editing techniques, project organization, trimming techniques, audio editing, effects, understanding and adjusting preferences, capturing and importing video and audio, finishing and final output. This introductory course is designed for those who want to add Avid Media Composer to their toolbox in professional video editing.
Prerequisite: None, but basic knowledge of the computer is highly recommended.
